Before the tabernacle was ever built, God’s chosen architect was filled “with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs" (Exodus 31:3–4). The same Spirit who hovered over the waters at creation, who inspires prophets and poets, and who will one day raise us into new creation, still works creatively through us today.
Throughout Scripture and history, the Spirit’s fingerprints are seen in inspired works—Jesus’ parables that continue to shape imaginations, Tolkien’s Middle-earth and Lewis’ Narnia that point beyond themselves, songs that stir hearts, images that capture the divine, and stories on page or screen that bring us to tears.
As we open ourselves to the Creative Spirit, we discover that God’s artistry is not limited to “artsy” people. The gospel takes on color, sound, and story through every life surrendered to Him. In this year’s Reveal, we’ll step into the Spirit’s inspiration—learning how to let His creativity flow through us so that the beauty of God’s truth can be made manifest in the world.
