We Got the Building!

Thank you for all your financial and prayerful support as we have sought to buy the church building! The conference was moved by our proposal and after discussing it, created a counter-offer of $100,000 (50% of the appraisal price!), which will be graciously paid directly to them over the next 15 years at a very low interest rate. Your donations these past few weeks will go directly to a downpayment on the building and we will be in a safe place financially because of your current and continued faithfulness. We thank God for guiding us through this complicated conversation and for taking care of us in all of this!

Jairus' Faith

It seems God created the world in such a way that it responds to faith. Jesus constantly called us to have faith in him and even seemed hurt when people didn't. In today's message, Jesus calls Jairus to have faith that he can do the impossible: raise his daughter from the dead.

All Sins Are Not the Same

We've all heard it said before: "All sin is the same because it separates us from God"—but this statement is not actually biblical. While all sin is forgivable, the Bible has never communicated the idea that it is therefore the same. If anything, the Old Testament clearly communicated to us that some sins were much worse than others—and even Jesus held that one sin in particular was worse than any other: the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Jamin jumps into Jesus' often ignored words on this topic in today's sermon.

There are two analogies Jesus made that have always been a little confusing due to cultural differences in the world today. The first one we generally understand, but the second one takes a bit more research. Jamin shares some insight on these ideas as we continue our series on the Gospel of Mark.

Children's Ministry Help Needed

Over the last months we've seen an increase in the children attending on Sunday mornings. This is wonderful for our church, and we're needing to recruit some more helpers for our kids' programs.  We have just a handful of people working to create a meaningful time of teaching and discipleship for our young people each Sunday, and some of the volunteers are helping out in both classrooms, which usually means working back to back weeks each month. We'd love to get some more people involved in this effort....more helpers means a lighter load for everyone involved. 

We need leaders and helpers for the toddler thru Kindergarten room, leaders and helpers for the 1st grade thru 4th grade room, and helpers for the middle school/high school room. Leaders use the curriculum to plan a lesson/activity for the morning, and helpers assist in whatever ways are needed.

Jamin puts forth Jesus' example as an example for Christians to live up to with their own crowd, whether it be a crowd of 2 people or 2,000.

Jesus' Prayer Life

So often we make prayer to be this serious, boring, chore of sorts. But that's not how Jesus treated it. In today's passage, the disciples wake up to find Jesus gone. Apparently, he had woken up early to go pray, even though he had just recently finished a 40 day fast. How do we start to desire prayer the same way? Jamin presents some thoughts on prayer to help.

The Might of Jesus

Well here's something unexpected: it appears that Mark ties Jesus back to the Old Testament judge, Samson. Jamin explores why he would do this.

We've so often been taught that the disciples were nobodies who left nothing to become something, but upon further inspection it seems that this was not the case. Jamin reveals a different look at the four fishermen Jesus calls at the beginning of the gospel of Mark.

Jamin ends his series on Romans in reference to the fact that Paul encouraged believers to not practice things that would upset other Christians, even if those things were morally acceptable.
